Beginning in October 2002, CCL Technologies (CCL) worked in conjunction with McGuffey School District to design and implement a Wide Area Network between 3 educational buildings and 1 administrative facility. The new WAN increased communication and functionality for students and faculty throughout the district.
Project Highlights:
- Converted peer to peer workgroup topology to school building LANs in 3 schools as well as the Administration building
- Implemented the district’s WAN from a newly converted MDF by installing Compaq Racks and a Tape Backup Library
- Configured Secure Internet access through Cisco PIX Firewall
- Configured WAN links over Point-to-Point T1s
- Installed and configured Cisco switches, routers, and HP Servers with Tape Backups at each location
- Implemented Microsoft Active Directory for administration and security of client computers
- Installed and configured N2H2 Bess Internet Content Filtering Software
- Created a login, e-mail account, and home directory for each faculty member
- Setup district wide secure access to student records management using ProSoft
- Implemented and configured GradeQuick for every teacher, enabling them to access student record changes automatically
- Setup of POS system in cafeteria
- Configured an electronic card catalogue for each school’s library
- Implemented PassKey (K-12 curriculum) district wide
- Setup and configured multiple mobile labs using Cisco Access Points and HP notebooks in each of the 3 schools
- Setup and configured 125+ computers in lab environments in the High School and Middle School with each of these labs running specialized applications
- Client conversion from Workgroup to Domain on each existing computer throughout the entire district
- Distribution, setup, and configuration of new HP computers and printers in classrooms through out the district
CCL Technologies continues to support the network via a Five Star Service Contract. CCL also maintains McGuffey’s remaining Novell Servers.
